C-silicone (one-component) vulcanizes (hardens) only with the help of a catalyst.

Mixing the bases of soft silicone A2-4 and medium hard silicone A14-16 in equal amounts, you get an orthosis of hardness A8-10, if you take the ratio of 60% soft silicone with a hardness of A2-4 and 40% of medium hard silicone A14-16, you get an orthosis with A7 hardness -9 etc. Thus, in the podiatrist there are additional possibilities for manufacturing an orthosis of the necessary rigidity for a particular case.

I would like to note that for high-quality work, the master needs to use accurate scales. Weighing silicones allows you to determine the amount of material needed to make an orthosis. When working with C-silicones, depending on the amount of base taken, the required amount of catalyst is calculated. Only by accurately observing the proportions of mixing materials can a podiatrist obtain an orthosis of proper quality. In addition, weighing allows the use of silicones more economically.
