Lock Strong - a perm product for hair that is difficult to handle. - This is the process of changing the shape of hair due to the breaking of disulfide bonds. Perm is performed to create a base for a hairstyle. The main task of this procedure is to make the hair able to maintain the given shape of the hairstyle for a long time, as well as the styling itself. The chemical effect on the hair occurs in the hair cortex. The structure of the cortex is important because it is it that is responsible for the elasticity and resilience of the hair. Keratin in the cortex is contained in the form of an alpha helix - a spring-like structure retains its shape due to internal connections. It is this structure that allows the hair to stretch up to 50% in length without damage and return to its original state, making it strong, flexible and elastic. There are 3 types of bonds that allow the alpha helix to maintain its shape: • Salt bridges - easily broken and restored • Hydrogen bonds - easily destroyed by water and restored. • Disulfide bonds (sulfide bridges) - hard to break bonds that can only be broken due to chemical exposure, such as perm. Perm is alkaline and acidic. Alkaline perm penetrates deep into the hair, making the curl more elastic and the curl longer. Acid perms do not penetrate as deep as alkaline ones.
