Category A – white package;
Category B – red package;
Category C – yellow package;
Category D - black package.
Category A
Epidemic safe medical waste
Food waste of all departments of the institution (except infectious, venereological and phthisiatric), household waste (solid, bulky, repair, etc.) of all departments of the institution (except infectious, venereological and phthisiatric).
Category B
Epidemic hazardous medical waste
Sharp objects: needles, syringes, peripheral venous catheters, central venous catheters, scalpels and their blades, slides, ampoules, empty test tubes, broken glassware, pipettes, lancets, objects contaminated with blood or other biological fluids (bandaging material, used cotton balls and gauze balls), anesthesia and respiratory equipment (circuits, cannulas, endotracheal tubes, tracheostomy tubes), probes, catheters, tissues, organs, body parts, placenta, embryos, food waste from the infectious departments of the institution, microbiological cultures and strains containing any live pathogens, artificially grown in significant quantities, live vaccines, unsuitable for use, as well as laboratory cups and equipment for their transfer, residues of nutrient media, inoculations, mixing of microbiological cultures of pathogens of infectious diseases, infected experimental animals and biological waste from vivariums, waste from medical and diagnostic units of institutions and dispensaries contaminated with patients' sputum, microbiological laboratories that work with tuberculosis pathogens.
Category C
Toxologically hazardous medical waste
(Medical, diagnostic, disinfectants, power elements, items containing mercury, devices and equipment containing heavy metals, waste generated as a result of the operation of equipment, transport, lighting systems, etc.).
Category D
Radiologically hazardous medical waste
(Category D waste includes all materials resulting from the use of radioisotopes for medical and/or scientific purposes in any aggregate state exceeding the permissible levels established by radiation safety standards).
