But the decrease in skin thickness and collagen content in older women is associated with estrogen deficiency, and with the help of phytoestrogens, age-related skin changes can be corrected.

Genistein has recently been recognized as an ideal natural selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) and has shown interesting results in skin elasticity, photoaging and skin cancer prevention. Daidzein is a powerful antioxidant, having greater activity than genistein. Reduces oxidative stress in the skin by increasing the expression of antioxidant enzymes and enhances the transcription of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase.
